More On Redemptoris Mater Seminary

In Guam we are very lucky to have a Redemptoris Mater Seminary. This is the first major seminary in the Marianas.
These seminaries Redemptoris Mater (that means Mother of the Redeemer),  number one hundred are still increasing. They  are distributed worldwide, with nearly 1,500 seminarians currently in formation. More than 1,200 graduates of Redemptoris Mater seminaries have already been ordained to the priesthood for their respective dioceses of incardination.
In the United States there are nine - Newark, Brooklyn, Guam, Denver, Washington D.C., Boston, Dallas, Miami and Philadelphia. In nearby Australia there are two – Perth and Sydney and in the Philippines, one –Manila.
Please note that it is the Cardinal/Archbishop who governs these dioceses that ask for a Redemptoris Mater Seminary. Archbishop Apuron is not alone in his wanting a Redemptoris Mater Seminary for his beloved island. He is accompanied by many illustrious Bishops.

Sometimes, the impression is given that our Archbishop,Anthony Apuron is wrong in supporting the Neocatechumenal Way. On the contrary, he is following what Saint Pope John Paul II recommended, I hope that my Brothers in the Episcopate will appreciate and assist this work for the new evangelization - along with their priests - so that it may develop along the guidelines proposed by the initiator”.
We may add that there are countless other Bishops who support the Neocatechumenal Way. Three Bishops wereformed in a Redemptoris Mater Seminary and still participate in all the activities of their respective community. They are
Bishop Marcos Antônio Tavoni, Bishop of Bom Jesusdo GurguéiaPiaui [Brasil]. Formed in the Redemptoris Mater of  Brasilia [Brasil].
Archbishop Javier Augusto Del Río Alba, Archbishop of Arequipa, Peru. Formed in Redemptoris Mater – Callao [Peru]
Bishop Peter Baldacchino, Auxiliary Bishop of Miami, formed in Redemptoris Mater- Newark [USA]He hails from the same Neocatechumenal community in Malta as Father Pius.
Besides these three, other Bishops, who we know, walk theNeocatechumenal Way are
Bishop José Luis Del Palacio y Pérez-Medel, Bishop of Callao [Peru]
Bishop Zbigniew Kiernikowski, Bishop of Legnica [Poland]
Bishop Peter Machado, Bishop of Belgaum [India]
Orani João Cardinal Tempesta, O. Cist. Archbishop of São Sebastião do Rio de Janeiro [Brasil]
Some of the Cardinals who are openly in favor of the Way
Christoph Cardinal Schönborn, O.P., Archbishop of Wien [Austria]
Philippe Xavier Ignace Cardinal Barbarin, Archbishop of Lyon [France]
Antonio Cardinal Cañizares Llovera, Prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments

Christian Wiyghan Cardinal Tumi, Archbishop Emeritus of Douala [Cameroon]
Emmanuel Cardinal Wamala, Archbishop Emeritus of Kampala [Uganda]
The list of Archbishops and Bishops who openly endorsethe Neocatechumenal Way is so many that it would be very challenging to simply enumerate.
We can just add that there are hundred Cardinals/Archbishops/Bishops who esteem and value so highly the Neocatechumenal Way that they have asked for a Redemptoris Mater seminary in their countries.
Archbishop Anthony Sablan Apuron is in good company.

  1. No he's not. You don't get called to Rome for a happy dance. If it was serious you get a call. If it is very serious then you get called to Rome for a face to face. It has nothing to do with NCW and everything to do with finances, the seminary transaction (told you my family had connections), mistreatment of priests, violations of the GRIM. And so much more. The Nuncio sent his list to Rome along with evidence and letters.

  2. How does RMS help the non-NCW community? This only produces NCW "priests", correct?

Is there a similar asset on Guam for non-NCW priests? Similar staffing, funding, etc?

    1. Dear Anonymous at 9:56 am,

These RMS priests also conduct regular masses in the Church. Why do you separate the RMS priests from other priests?

    2. That begs the question: Why does the Archbishop separate the NCW and its priests from the mother church?

I repeat my question, is there a similar asset on Guam for non-NCW priests?

    3. Dear Anonymous at 4:07 p.m.,

The NCW and non-NCW priests are part of the Mother Church.

    4. Do the priests who are in the Way not tend to the parishioners who are not in the Way first? I'm pretty sure they put everyone else before those who are walking. They do the masses throughout the day and still make time for those who are walking in the Way...even when they are extremely exhausted. Why do they do this? Because Jesus Christ teaches us to serve the other even when it is most difficult.

Love when it is difficult to love the other. Forgive when it is difficult to forgive the other. Serve when it is difficult to serve the other.

    5. We do have seminarians who are not in the Way. Why hasn't this been put out yet? Oh, because it doesn't boost the argument or issue of those who are against the seminary because of the Way because of the archbishop because of pius because of kiko. Oh my, the issues are all over the place?

What's the real issue? I'm lost now.

    6. Dear Anonymous at 9:44 p.m.,

  3. Those who are attempting to destroy the seminary are trying to kill the very heart of the diocese. From the seminary we get priests. Through the work of the priests we can help the church to grow. If they want to eliminate the seminary, then they are destroying the very work of God. If this is what the hate bloggers, then we need to ask them WHY? Why do you want to tear down what God has created?

  4. So which is it? The archbishop should be attacked because of the NCW or finances? Diana just showed how Rome, through the popes, bishops, cardinals, and other priests support the NCW. Mismanaged finances occurred during a monsignor's watch as shown by audit findings. Nothing will appease the lynch mob, except for the archbishop's removal. If only these brothers were as vocal and passionate about the real dangers facing our Church--abortion, divorce, or catholics being killed in the middle east. The list goes on. Yet, here we are...attacking our archbishop for moving a monsignor or allowing the NCW in the parishes. Never ending flip flops.

  5. Nobody really had a problem with The Way until it became the tail wagging the dog. When a neo-washed archbishop starts canning priests, refuses to sponsor potential non neo seminarians, shelters neo pedopriests, then we have a problem.

    1. Dear Anonymous at 10:48 p.m.,

He removed three priests and gave a valid reason for it. He did not sponsor a non neo seminarian and also has a valid reason for it. And he did not shelter any neo pedophile priests. In our society, a person is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The person whom Father Paul was sheltering is a convicted sex offender. Father John was never arrested nor convicted, so he is not in the same category as the convicted sex offender whom Father Paul was sheltering.

  6. I'm Just So Tired of All This Already...August 17, 2014 at 11:18 AM

This is all so frustrating! OK so there are people who have a problem with the NCW. WE GET IT. And there are people who do NOT have a problem with the NCW as well. Did that ever occur to you guys? Since when is the opinion of a non-NCW member of the congregation weigh MORE or LESS than that of a person in the NCW? I don't know where all these rumors started about the Way wanting to get rid of all the non-neo priests by reason of non-conformity to the Way. No one is expecting the whole island to join the NCW. So why are there people that want to get rid of it? Why does it have to be one or the other? There are some people in the Church that feel that they need the NCW to deepen their relationship with Christ. Can we leave it at that? Can they please just have that?! Good for them! If you don't need the Way, that's fine too! Great for you!

And seriously, people, can we leave out all the name-bashing? Can we NOT attack the integrity of individuals let alone by name?

The bottom line is there are people that have a problem with the Way. OK fine. We are all entitled to our opinions. But can we leave them as that? No more ACCUSATIONS here? We are acting as though our words and actions have no consequences. We all need to just take a good look at what we are doing to each other. Stop throwing stones already! It's SUNDAY, go out and enjoy it!

Instead of pointing fingers at each other as to who is causing all this division in the church, let's all be mature about this and move on.
