(Vatican Radio) Pope Francis on Wednesday said that in a Christian community division is one of the worst sins because it comes not from God. He made the comment during weekly General Audience on Wednesday in St Peter’s Square.The importance of unity was at the heart of Pope Francis’ catechesis at his weekly General Audience on Wednesday, telling the estimated ten thousand pilgrims and tourists present in St Peter’s Square that “ while we, the members of the Church, are sinners, the unity and holiness of the Church arise from God and call us daily to conversion.
The Holy Father said that the sins against unity, such as jealousy, envy, and antipathy come about when we place ourselves at the centre and even occur even in our parish communities.
Then the Pope underlined that in a Christian community division is one of the worst sins because it comes not from God but from the Devil.
God’s will, stressed Pope Francis “is that we grow in our capacity to welcome one another, to forgive and to love, and to resemble Jesus.”
Giving an example of Christ’s unity and Holiness at work, Pope Francis recounted a story he had heard about an elderly woman who, all her life worked for her parish. She was a women who never gossiped, never spoke ill of anyone and always had a smile on her face. This is the kind of woman, said the Pope that could be “canonized tomorrow”. This, the Holy Father noted, is the holiness of the Church – “to recognize the image of God in one another”.
Concluding his Catechesis, the Holy Father asked that we all examine our consciences and look for forgiveness “for the times when we have given rise to division or misunderstanding in our communities and may our relationships mirror more beautifully and joyfully the unity of Jesus and the Father.”

ReplyDeleteVery clear message, could not be any clearer. Still, I am absolutely sure Jungle blog won't listen. They are a bunch of fools, as the Book of Proverbs call those who turn away from God. How could we have a more magnificent Church and a more adored Pope? Our Catholic Church is the most magnificent among all churches and or Pope is the most adored person on the face of the earth! Still, it is not enough for folks at the Jungle blog. They just don't wanna listen and don't wanna understand. Their heart is full of jealousy, envy and antipathy, as Pope Francis, our Pope says!
1. But they should not be jealous at all! We don't get anything free that they cannot get themselves. We walk with the Lord Jesus, so that He allows us come close to Him and see His face. This is our benefit. But Jungle folks can come close to the Lord too if they want, they can see His face as well, nobody can prevent them, perhaps only themselves when they turn away.
2. They don't need to be envious either! Our commitment to the Lord is strong and rewarding. We make sacrifices and receive blessing. We feel the Lord in the communities of His children. Would Jungle folks be ready to make sacrifices? Would they be willing to commit to the Lord? Would they take up the cross of being in a community of the Lord? Well, then they can get the blessing as well. As much as they need. See, there is nothing to be envious about!
3. Therefore their antipathy is so misguided and sinful. They are unable to welcome the Way in their hearts, because their hearts is guided by the one who was a Liar from the beginnings! They are unable to welcome their fellow Catholic sisters and brothers because they are far from being Catholic themselves which means universal. But they want to exclude us. They still harbor antipathy and hatred in their hearts because they chose not to listen, they chose not to understand!
No wonder the only thing Jungle folks are able to talk about is themselves. I, me, mine... this is the old song we hear from them all the time. They know naught about us! They have zero idea what we are all about, that is why they make those ridiculous claims and whining about us. I wish they would know us better. But they only talk about themselves, because they are the center of their own lives. The Pope said it well. God bless his name forever! Only the fools do not listen.

As a parent, I am not very pleased that this speech was made. I send my sons to FD first and foremost because it is a Catholic School, and I believe in the theological philosophy they teach there. Second, I hold the faculty and staff at FD with high admiration. Thirdly my sons are now the Fourth generation in my family who will and proudly hold the name of FRIARS.
DeleteI did not expect this from the Archbishop. I do not understand why he has to preach all the cause of division regarding the Church. I would like both sides to keep their dirty laundry to themselves. I cannot answer the whys that my sons ask now. I cannot say, who is the truthful one. For now we just pray.

Because it is what is happening in the local Church today, and the students need to hear the Archbishop's side and not just from the jungle alone. In fact, I think that all priests should preach a homily in relation to what is happening today.....something that people can relate to in their lives.

DeleteWhy should it be kept out of the high schools??? These are high school students. Some of them will be graduating into the world, and you want them to be kept ignorant. High school students have access to the Internet, so they are capable of reading the jungle. But they should also be informed about the Archbishop's side.
Look at the timeline. The audio version WITHOUT COMMENTS in red was posted late Thursday Aug 28. Comments started coming in soon after midnight early Friday Aug 29. These people listened to the recording and started discussing without being influenced by comments from Tim Rohr.

DeleteSo, now that makes it three people who heard Archbishop Krebs say not to listen to the blogs. The first was from an anonymous poster who said he heard it from Archbishop Krebs during lunch. The second was from Father Pius. I was the one who heard Father Pius say that he heard Archbishop Krebs say to stay away from Junglewatch because it is a hate blog. Now, the third person is the Archbishop who is making the same claim.
You can include my wife and myself on this list. He told us the same thing personally and to let others know.

Armenian for example. They cannot attack or talk about these churches , the difference in liturgies...etc because their arguements would expose their hypocrisy. Thier jungle rhor will be a wimper.

DeleteNot only are they unaware of the Eastern rite Catholics, but they are also unaware that there are actually 9 liturgies in the Roman rite:
1) The Ordinary form of the Roman rite
2) The Extraordinary form of the Roman rite
3) Bragan
4) Mozarabic
5) Ambrosian
6) Dominican
7) Carmelite
8) Carthusian
9) Anglican Use - where the Anglican clergy with their parishes have come into full communion with the Holy See.
Apparently, the jungle just want us to follow their form of liturgy of which they only know. According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church:

ReplyDeleteIn this interview he says, "we are following an ecumenical itinerary open to those who have fallen away from the Church" . Why is the recruitment to join the NCW being done IN the Catholic churches? And why during the holy sanctity of the Mass?
Secondly, he says, "also keep in mind that many people who enter the Way have fallen away from the faith; they are "prodigal children" returning to the house of the Father, and one must be very merciful with them until their faith matures and they can be fully integrated in the parish." -- Why don't we see these prodigal children coming back to be fully integrated in the parish? With all the testimonies about how the way has strengthened and matured their faith, why is it that they still remain in the "temporary" small community?

DeleteTitle II, Chapter 1, Article 5 of the Statutes states that it is for
1) those who have drifted away from the Church;
2) those who have not been sufficiently evangelized and catechized;
3) those who desire to deepen and mature their faith; and
4) those who come from Christian denominations not in full communion with the Catholic Church.
Those announcements are made during Mass for those who wish to deepen and mature their faith. These are people who are already attending Church, but have a desire to grow more in their faith.
To answer your second question, the prodigal children are the "fallen away Catholics." They were the ones who are what we call non-practicing Catholics. They are baptized Catholics but no longer attend Mass. These Catholics are much harder to come back to the parish because they have been away for so long. The community is the first step and gradually, they will re-enter the Catholic Church. The Pope says that we are to attend the parish Mass once a month. Those who have already been attending the parish Mass are not the problem because they continue to attend Mass. It is the "fallen away" brothers and sisters that need to gradually come back into the parish. The best way to start getting them back into the parish is to have them attend Mass in the parish once a month, then gradually get them involve in parish activities so eventually they feel more at ease returning to the Church. Give them some time.
There is a persistent tone of superiority in the arguments being made by the neos. Have you grown too big for your britches? Let's make one thing clear, the NCW is nothing more than an itinerary for adult formation. It is not the source of the Catholic faith, it is not the authority of the Church, and it is certainly not an authentic witness to the teachings of Jesus Christ. Yet they speak as if though God Himself handed His church over to Kiko. As if we were somehow lesser for not embracing "the way".
ReplyDeleteIn fact the NCW revels in taking credit for God's work as made evident by these ridiculous testimonies. For all of you who have truly experienced the saving power of God, it is not the NCW who has delivered you. The NCW has no divine power. Only God can save. He may have used this itinerary to bring His Light into your darkness but now He enjoins you to use your free will to seek the one and only Truth.
Ask yourself one question - if Jesus Christ appeared in His glorified body during your Eucharistic celebration, would you really receivve Him reclined at your table as if He were your buddy and not your creator? I should hope not. And as Catholics by our own profession of faith we must believe in the real presence of Christ during the transfiguration at the moment of consecration. Does not every fiber of your being yearn to lay prostrate in the presence of your maker?
Now you decide whether the Way is geniunely Catholic, Diana. But you probably won't post this because the truth hurts, doesn't it?

DeleteThe Way is definitely Catholic. It is recognized by the Pope, who is Catholic. There is no other religious leader who recognize the Way other than the Pope. So, yes, it is Catholic. How else do you know if something is Catholic if it has not been endorsed by the Pope????
Anonymous, Christ is BOTH my creator, my buddy, my friend, and my brother. So, yes, I can receive reclining at the table EXACTLY as the Apostles did when they received Him at the table.
Your last sentence very well says it all.... THIS is why we see how the Neo's teachings are very different from the Catholic Church. Best to go start your own church.

See the Catechism below on how the Early Church celebrates its Eucharish, and then tell me if they were wrong when they consumed the Body of Christ sitting down. (Capitalization is my emphasis).
CCC 1345 As early as the second century we have the witness of St. Justin Martyr for the basic lines of the order of the Eucharistic celebration. They have stayed the same until our own day for all the great liturgical families. St. Justin wrote to the pagan emperor Antoninus Pius (138-161) around the year 155, explaining what Christians did:
On the day we call the day of the sun, all who dwell in the city or country gather in the same place.

anonymous, Christ is always present during Mass and Eucharist. It is also true that he is only passing and only manifest himself in a heart that is ready to receive him. A heart that is ready 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, every minute and each second, not only on Sunday's for about 1 hour.

ReplyDeleteArchbishop Apuron joined "the way' and look at where it got him. That's all the resource we need to see that the NCW is not "THE WAY".. Instead of becoming a better person, he became worse! Don't you think that if he really were of the people and for the people & a good and humble servant ....that he'll get the respect a man in his position deserves? Apparently, too many people have been snubbed and hurt by this man and that is why they're all coming out of the woodwork to expose him for what he is. He is hurting your cause, but that's a good thing in many people's minds.

DeleteYou need to be more specific in your comments. How did he become worse? The Archbishop has remained mostly silent while some people call him liar. And when he does go out to the media trying to make an explanation, he is still called a liar. So, he is damned if he remains silent and damned when he explains.
That's fine, go ahead and continue defending him and while you're at it, why don't you make him the poster child of the NCW since he's just a "glowing" example of what the neos are all about.

DeleteBecause all Bishops represent Christ. They are even in the Person of Christ (in persona Christi) when administering the Sacraments. Christ said to His Apostles that those who receive you receives Him and those who rejects you rejects Him.
Luke 10:16 “Whoever listens to you listens to me; whoever rejects you rejects me; but whoever rejects me rejects him who sent me.”
That is what Father Adrian meant. That is what the Catholic Church teaches.
