Deacon Tony D'Souza

Deeply influenced by the devout Catholic faith of his mother and sisters while growing up in Honavar, India, Deacon Tony D’Souza, 33, began to consider the priesthood at the age of 10. “My mother continually encouraged us to love the Lord and to trust in His providence. When I was 16, I met the Neocatechumenal Way through which my faith matured and I could discern my vocation.” In 1999 he made a pilgrimage to the tomb of St. Francis Xavier in Goa, India, which helped him to further discern his vocation. D’Souza studied at the Redemptoris Mater Seminary of Bangalore, India, and the Redemptoris Mater Archdiocesan Missionary Seminary in Hyattsville, Md. Fr. D’Souza will celebrate his first Mass on June 22, 2014, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Largo

Deacon Cezary KozubekGrowing up in Oświęcim, Poland, Deacon Cezary Kozubek, 38, saw the dedication of many priests and lay people, including his parents, trying to preserve their Christian identity and freedom under a Communist regime. “Their genuine faith and the sacrifice of their lives attracted me and stirred a desire for looking for Christ in my life.” His search brought him to the Neocatechumenal Way where he participated in World Youth Day in Paris (1997), Rome (2000) and Cologne (2005). “Each time the vocational meetings with the initiators of the Neocatechumenal Way in those places helped me to crystalize and publicly manifest my desires to become a priest.” After graduating from the University of Rzeszów, Kozubek was a science teacher in his native country before entering Redemptoris Mater Archdiocesan Missionary Seminary. Fr. Kozubek will celebrate his first Mass on June 22, 2014, at 10 a.m. at St. Jerome Catholic Church in Hyattsville.

  1. Look, Diana, the Pope also had good things to say to the Cursillos! Papa Francis also loves the Cursillos, not just the Neocats.

Pope Francis meets with Cursillos in Christianity movement

Pope Francis on Thursday evening in the Paul VI Hall greeted the Cursillos in Christianity movement who are in Rome for their European meeting and who are celebrating the 50th anniversary of the group in Italy.

There was also questions to the Holy Father from members of the movement.

Cursillos in Christianity is a Catholic movement that was founded by a group of laymen in 1944 in Majorca, Spain.

The charism of the Cursillo focuses on giving Christian lay people the tools needed to become effective Christian leaders over the course of a three-day weekend. They in turn are asked to take what they have learned back out into the world.

In his prepared remarks the Pope told the estimated 7,000 cursillista’s gathered in the Paul VI Hall that they were called to build on the charism that the Lord has entrusted to them.

He said the pioneers of the movement were authentic missionaries and did not hesitate to take the initiative and bravely approach people, to help them on their journey of faith.

The Holy Father urged those present to follow their example, and the infinite love of Christ that frees and transforms lives

He said, I encourage you to go beyond", faithful to your charism! To keep alive the zeal, the fire of the Spirit that always compels the followers of Christ to reach those on the peripheries, to "step out of their comfort zone and have the courage to reach all the suburbs that need the light of the Gospel".

Pope Francis finally urged the participants to help the men and women of today to discover the beauty of faith and a life of grace, but in a way that is guided by humility.

    1. Dear Anonymous at 3:04 pm,

Did I ever say that the Pope did NOT like the Cursillos??????? Where did I say that the Pope loves ONLY the NCW??????

    2. Of course, the Pope loves the Cursillos. He loves all realities generated by the Holy Spirit.

Only those who oppose the Holy Spirit dislike the new ecclesial realities, like the neocatechumenal way.

In fact Kiko is very grateful to the Cursillos.

  2. I went for a Latin Mass.

I was scandalized because before mass started, the priest came out and put a huge altar card in front of the Blessed Sacrament reposing in the Tabernacle.

    Why do they do that?

Is it because they do NOT believe in the presence of Jesus Christ in the tabernacle? And so want to hide it?

    Terrible. Terrible. Terrible.

    1. This altar card hiding the tabernacle is very interesting. Obviously the Latin Mass goers have no respect at all at Our Lord.

    2. Dear Anonymous at 10:25 am and 10:53 pm,

This only goes to show how easily one can misinterpret and misconstrue a simple thing such as putting an altar card in front of the tabernacle. In no way does this mean that those who attend the Latin Mass do not believe in the presence of Christ in the tabernacle. They do believe in it. Let us not be like the jungle who accuses the NCW of similar things.
