Archbishop Moving Forward

In today's Pacific Daily News, we are reminded that the Archbishop is moving forward with his defamation lawsuit.  He has already been advised by his attorney not to answer any questions regarding the allegations.  As to who will be named in the lawsuit, it would come as no surprise that John Toves would be at the top since he was the one who made the sexual abuse allegations in the first place.  It is not known if there will be others named in the lawsuit, but time will eventually tell.

  1. John Toves was on the air with Ray Gibson today. Did you hear what he said? When Mr. Gibson asked him when his relative is gonna come in, he said that it takes time for his relative to step up to the plate cuz he's still traumatized by the abuse. John also admitted that it took him 2 months to come out and stand on behalf of his relative, so it may take his relative longer.

    1. Dear anonymous at 12:40 pm,

Two months???? He only came out on November 17th........that is only 14 days! That is not even a month. Does Mr. Toves have his time line correct? And he was on the air with Ray Gibson?

    2. Diana,

I just would like to know what makes John Toves, Tim Rohr and Chuck White so credible? People follow him and he is not the one who has no authority of decision making. Someone said here if the Archbishop Apuron step down, the new Bishop step in and he does not agree what the new Bishop do, then what? He belly aches in everything including a dog poop in the street. Look what he said below, I'm done with this guy, I'm hoping he is part of this law suit and letter from the Pope's visit here in Guam stating he is excommunicated.

Lastly I notice he has not sleeping well these days. His post are 3AM to 4AM. I'm sleeping well, the rest of them are not. I'm in peace with my Archbishop Apuron.

I might not have read the link yet but the operative words here are enough for me. "Reaching out". Isn't that what Church is all about? Reaching out.

    3. Anon 12/2 @ 4:56PM: Just because Tim Rohr posts at 3AM to 4AM you think he doesn't sleep well? Guess what? St. Padre Pio is reported to sleep only 2 hours each night. Sounds like Mr. Rohr has the same sleeping habits of a saint.

  2. Look at what the jungle is saying now about john gives and his allegedly cousin they just can't Toves had knowledge of the molestation of his cousin when he (John Toves) was an altar boy. This is incorrect, John Toves' knowledge of the molestation is from when he was in the minor seminary at Tai (FD). tim rohrs plan is crumbling and how is it that he knows this information about the guy when he jus came out a few weeks ago

    1. Dear Anonymous at 9:17 pm,

I do not think John Toves has a lawyer because he is making himself available on the talk shows. If he had a lawyer, his lawyer would have told him that he cannot just demand an audience with the Archbishop and ask him questions about the alleged molestation. His lawyer is supposed to be speaking to the Archbishop's lawyer. And this alleged sexual molestation charge will be settled in court. It will not be settled privately between Mr. Toves and the Archbishop. Mr. Toves does not even have to camp out outside the Archbishop's residence. All he needs to do is settle it in court. He can tell his story in front of the judge, and the Archbishop will be there with his attorney.

  3. John Toves left Guam in 1982. He did not care about our island for more than thirty years. Suddenly he is coming back. Lots of fanfare by the media. Is he a hero? Has he been a benefactor to Guam? No, he is simply accusing Archbishop of something an unidentified man claims has happened to him. Why does not this man comes forward himself? It all sounds so fishy to me.

  4. A timely reminder in all this meskla of lies being propagated by Jungle Whatever, The Museum was closed in the intervening time between transfer of Mgr. Benavente to Tamuning and appointment of Mgr. David to be the Rector of Cathedral. The former guys in charge tried even to dismantle it but when the staff at the Cathedral realized what they were doing, they locked the Museum.

I was told by reliable sources that Mrs. Vangie Luhan was approached by Mgr. David and asked to continue her precious work at the Cathedral Museum. She refused. Is she throwing the stone and then hiding her hand? One should own one’s own actions.

When I had a problem with Archbishop, I did not go to the media. I just went and spoke with him and he listened patiently. And he explained the reasons behind his decisions.

Not one single person working at the Cathedral was sent away by Mgr. David or his staff. They just walked away once Mgr. Benavente was asked to go to Tamuning parish. So they cannot blame anyone but themselves if things at the Cathedral are not going the way they want them to go.

    1. Re Vangie Luhan, it is true when you analyze her statements that she was never told to leave the museum; she was never even fired. She simply left. She was the one who voluntarily left and now she refuses to return. Period. And now she's crying foul. Now she's pointing fingers at the Rector and the Hill that they are at fault. What? Come on Vangie. Why don't you come back? If you are so concerned about the museum and the supposed deterioration of the artifacts, why don't you return and help? What good is it to complain to the PDN and Patti Arroyo when you could be doing some productive work at the museum? That's all.

    1. Dear Anonymous at 8:43 pm,

I do not think he changed his mind. The Archbishop's lawyers are diligently working on his case.
