Building Bridges

Archbishop Krebs had a wonderful time here on Guam as he visited the clergy, the mayors, seminary, and even the Governor of Guam.  According to the Umtuna dated July 20, 2014, Archbishop Krebs emphasized that his intention was "to come help (build) bridges and help those who want to build bridges."  According to the Apostolic Delegate, "I did not come here to help those who want to break bridges down but to help those who want to build them."

Despite the fact that an ignoramus priest managed to record the closed meeting and turn it over to Junglewatch to be publicly ridiculed, reconciliation and unity can still be achieved for with God all things is possible.  Naturally, it will be challenging because of what was done during the closed meeting.  Nevertheless, the reason for this behavior is because of desperation.  The Nuncio supported us, and that is the reason for their frustration and anger.

Let me again reiterate to the brothers in the Way.....do not engage in anything that is hostile to our Archbishop and to the Catholic Church.  To put it in simple terms, it is not necessary to go to the jungle anymore. The Apostolic Delegate has already labeled it a "hate blog", so please heed his advice when Archbishop Krebs advise us not to pay any attention to it.  Just pray for those who persecute us, and God will take care of the rest.

    1. Please do not ridicule a person with a disability. By doing that, you show disrespect. What if you or a family member is disabled? You wouldn't want someone to say disrespectful things to you.

    2. Dear Anonymous, if this was an attempt to disrespect a disabled person, then it was wrong and the commenter should apologize. The same time, even a disabled person should show respect to others. Mary Lou slandered me openly saying that I wrote on Jungle blog. This was a lie. I have never written and won't ever write anything on Jungle blog! This is that simple. I respectfully ask Mary Lou to apologize to me. Thanks.

    3. For the record, Anonymous (July 20, 2014 at 7:03 AM), my name is Mary Lou Garcia-Pereda — not Peredo — and yes, I use a Hurry Cane (or a walker on bad days) because I have a disability as a result of a terminal illness. At least you know exactly who I am and how to attack me personally because I have not hidden my identity.

Thank you, Anonymous (July 20, 2014 at 9:38 AM) for your kind words for those of us who live with the challenge of a physical disability. God bless you.

  2. Dear Anonymous at 7:03 am,

Tim's motive is revenge. His agenda is a personal one. For some reason, he wants to get even with the Archbishop for some perceived wrong he felt that was done to him. But what is the motive of the offending priest for recording a closed meeting and giving it to the jungle?

I believe some type of disciplinary action is needed to correct these individuals, and Church leaders have it within their authority to make corrections. What the priest did is very serious. He has compromised the trust of his brothers. And if a priest can leak out information from a closed meeting, what is to stop him from leaking out confessions from parishioners who come to him to confess their sins?

    ReplyDelete
  3. Leaking out confession. That is very good point. Scary, so how can we trustbthis guy for such sacrament?

  4. That is breaking Oath already just like the Tagaytay PH retreat. This priest has a hidden malicious agenda. Now this made me more eery about confession and now sacred out my wits to go to this Priest for confession.

  5. I was with the Apostolic Nuncio and he did NOT say that the JungleWatch was a "Hate Blog"- he further explained that the people are turning to it because they are not getting the answers from the Church leadership and that the people are frustrated. It was a form of media just like radio or television. The people who contribute have issues with the church and policies and NCW and so they are venting publicly. We live in an age of accountability and if the people do not feel they can trust the Archbishop then it is the job of the Archdiocese and the Archbishop to build that trust- in essence he must serve and not be served.

Obviously, he did not say it to you, but he said it to an anonymous poster who heard it. He even said that it came from the horse's mouth.

    2. Yah some nobody heard it so it must be true..no credibility either way. Let's just email the Nuncio and ask him ourselves.

    3. So when a poster says it came from the horse's mouth you automatically believe it! maybe you do, if you already knew who the poster was! Why don't you ask which RMS priest told a diocesan priest "this isn't over yet" right after the clergy meeting. This my dear Diana is coming from the horse's mouth.

    4. Dear Anonymous at 7:55 p.m.,

From what I heard, those in the jungle have been emailing the Nuncio all the time. Now that he came to Guam, did you get any progress from him? No. Did he tell the Archbishop to step down? No. The Nuncio told everyone in that room that it is up to the Archbishop to have open discussions. In other words, the Nuncio recognized the authority of the Archbishop.

    5. Dear Anonymous at 8:04 p.m.,

Of course, it is not over yet. There is still much work to be done toward reconciliation as the Nuncio said. The discussions must continue even if it is on one on one with the Archbishop. Nevertheless, we know that disobedience will never lead to unity and reconciliation. If anything, perhaps it was a good thing that the offending priest did what he did.......to show that it is indeed disobedience that causes the distrust and division.

    6. My Dear Dear Diana, the remark was said sarcastically! I heard it, you didn't. Do not analyze the remark! The RMS priest seemed quite upset.

    7. Dear Anonymous at 11:04 p.m.,

It is not always easy to determine the mood of the person writing on the Internet without viewing their facial expression and body language. You must have perceived incorrectly because the RMS priests that I spoke to were very pleased with the Nuncio's visit. In fact, even the minutes in the jungle's blog showed the Vatican delegate being more positive rather than negative.

  6. There was not one moment or time in which the Nuncio said he supported the NCW. He recognized it as major issue which divides and is the root of some of the problems.

    1. Dear Anonymous at 4:00 p.m.,

The Nuncio said nothing negative. According to the Umatuna and even that transcript on Junglewatch, the Nuncio remained positive. The Umatuna quoted him as saying "I did not come here to help those who want to break bridges down but to help those who want to build them."

Disobedience has always been a cause of division or separation starting with the disobedience of Adam and Eve, and it has not changed. Look at what the disobedience of that offending priest did who recorded a closed meeting and then gave the transcript to the jungle. Because of his disobedience, he has compromised the trust of his brothers. Not knowing who the culprit was, each priest can easily look at each other with suspicion, and they will worry about the letters they write and whether their words are being recorded. This distrust caused by the offending priest further divides his brothers.

    2. How do you know it was recorded! You must have inside information too, a leak!

    3. Dear Anonymous at 10:10 p.m.,

It is obvious from the jungle that there was also a recording because Tim Rohr put Archbishop Apuron's and Archbishop's Krebs words in quotes "word for word" regarding the gag order.

  8. I understood that the Nuncio was not in support of those who were burning bridges. That was to include the Archbishop, JW and yourself Diana. The pen is mightier than the sword. Those in charge of their respective blogs could have exercised less sarcasm and more objectivity and certainly an opposing viewpoint is freedom of expression an inherent right.
The seal of confession is not to be broken. Sharing that marital relations and attempts on suicide in a public forum was seriously improper as well. The Catholic Church is an INSTITUTION OF GOD, By GOD not by man. Further it is ONE,HOLY,CATHOLIC AND APOSTOLIC. The MAGISTERIUMS are in place for EVERYONE to OBEY GOD...not man who is NOT obedient to GOD.

No, it included those who were disobedient such as the priest who gave the jungle the minutes and recordings of a closed meeting. It included those who forwarded Father John's email to the jungle to be bashed at. It include those who use mocks and taunt others rather than have a civilized discussion. In my blog, I do not mock the Archbishop, Mocking and taunting people is not how one build bridges.

  10. Dear Anonymous at 9:59 a.m.,

To honestly build a bridge, one does not start by going around saying "you are wrong and I am right." It starts with acknowledging what the problem is and how to come to a solution to the problem. And as I have always been saying.....the problem is DISOBEDIENCE. Disobedience caused the division, and that is true since the beginning starting with Adam and Eve.

  11. To 10::05 AM not being the poster but to answer your question...I owe no allegiance to anyone but God!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Dear Anonymous at 10:40 a.m.,

The allegiance to God is not separate from the allegiance to His Church because Christ is the Head of the Church while we are His body. One cannot separate the Head and Body of Christ for they are one. Just as the husband is one with his wife so is Christ (the bridegroom) one with His Church (His bride).

This is the reason why Christ said to Paul who was named "Saul" at the time: "Saul, Saul why are you persecuting ME?" Saul persecuted Christians, but Christ said "Why are you persecuting ME?" The reason being because Christ and His Church are one. Any persecution on His Church is a persecution on Christ.

Christ told His Apostles that those who listens to them listens to Him, and those who rejects them, rejects Him (See Luke 10:16). Therefore, when the Archbishop tells a parish priest to open his parish to the NCW and the parish priest disobeys the Archbishop, he also disobeys God.

    1. You are right, dear Anonymous 11:19 am. It was a terrible hatchet job, a lawsuit full of false accusations against Cardinal Joseph Bernardin, the Archbishop of Chicago, in 1993.

Joseph Bernardin was the highest ranking Catholic clergy who had to go through this ordeal. Wikipedia writes: "While Archbishop of Cincinnati, Bernardin was named to the Sacred Congregation of Bishops, elected to the permanent council of the Synod of Bishops, served as president of the National Conference of Catholic Bishops, worked to improve relations between Catholics and Jews, strove for better understanding between the Catholic Church and Protestant denominations. In the Consistory of February 2, 1983, he was elevated to the Sacred College of Cardinals by Pope John Paul II as Cardinal-Priest of Gesù Divino Lavoratore (Jesus the Divine Worker) as his titular church." So he was a great man of faith, a promoter of meaningful changes, a high ranking progressive Church leader. No wonder he was picked on by fundamentalist traditionalists.

Steven Cook, his accuser said his charges came up during hypnosis treatment he received. When liberal media got the news, they had a filed day. They felt they captured a most prominent Catholic person of high authority and they wanted to devour him, literally. Well, they did not succeed. Steven Cook withdrew the charges and apologized to Cardinal Bernardin. He said his memories were unduly influenced during his hypnosis session. Cardinal Bernardin accepted his apology. He died in 1996 of pancreatic cancer.

      http://articles.philly.com/1995-01-05/news/25712389_1_steven-j-cook-cardinal-bernardin-sexual-abuse

So you see how these charges work in the hands of the anti-Catholic, atheist liberal media. They call it "breaking news" when they publish it, but in fact they BREAK AND SMITE THE TRUTH into lies and unrecognizable debris, falsifying its content and details. Now, Tim Rohr became one the most faithful servants of this raucous liberal media to deliver them most dubious anti-Catholic material. By his egocentric and self-aggrandizing behavior he became the betrayer and master of hatchet jobs against our respectable Church leaders.

  13. Diana you said when the archbishop tells a parish priest to open his parish to NCW and he disobeys the Archbisop, he disobeys God? Where is that reference to an eleventh commandment written by who and since when? Does the Pope and Rome know they are not in compliance to your god?!

    1. Dear Anonymous at 4:26 p.m.,

Read the rest of my comment and not just the last sentence. Jesus told His Apostles that those who listens to them listens to Him and those who rejects them rejects Him. All the Apostles were Bishops and represent Christ.

Someone under this thread pointed out that the Archbishop is the Vicar of Christ and the Pope of Guam. That poster is correct. Although the title "Vicar of Christ" belongs only to the Pope, the Archbishop of Guam is also a "vicar" and a "pope" over the churches he is assigned to. The Archbishop of Guam represents Christ, and whoever listens to him listens to Christ. According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church:

CCC 862 "Just as the office which the Lord confided to Peter alone, as first of the apostles, destined to be transmitted to his successors, is a permanent one, so also endures the office, which the apostles received, of shepherding the Church, a charge destined to be exercised without interruption by the sacred order of bishops." Hence the Church teaches that "the bishops have by divine institution taken the place of the apostles as pastors of the Church, in such wise that whoever listens to them is listening to Christ and whoever despises them despises Christ and him who sent Christ."

Therefore, what I say is not of another religion. You either do not understand your Catholic faith or are finding some excuse to be disobedient to the Archbishop.

    2. Archbishop Anthony Apuron no longer serves as a servant to Rome. He serves Kiko.

    3. Dear Anonymous at 8:12 p.m.,

Both the Archbishop and Kiko Arguello are servants of God and His Church. As a matter of fact, Pope Francis confirmed Kiko as Consultor for the Pontifical Council for the Laity for five more years. This evidence already proves that Kiko is a servant of God and His Church.

The only ones who says that the Archbishop and Kiko are not servants of Rome are you and the anti-Catholics, and they say this without any evidence.
