Archbishop Denies Allegations

Archbishop Anthony Apuron denies all allegations that he sexually abused Roy Quintanilla.

Guam - Archbishop Anthony Apuron is ending his years-long silence, speaking to the media for the first time since a series of allegations were launched against him; the most serious of which is from Roy Quintanilla who accused the archbishop of sexually molesting him 40 years ago.
PNC obtained the archbishop's exclusive statement. Below is a transcript of Archbishop Apuron's statement.
My dear faithful,

As you know there has been a series of attacks against myself and the catholic church in these past three years. As predicted just four days ago, these malicious ads have now resulted in a false accusation of sexual abuse. To be absolutely clear and to avoid any misinterpretation of my statement, I deny all allegations of sexual abuse by Roy Quintanilla. I humbly ask for your prayers and encourage all our faithful to pray for me and for those behind this concerted effort to injure our catholic church. I will continue to defend the faith and give my life for the truth. Thank you. Si Yu’os Ma’ase.

    1. Dear Anonymous at 7:33 pm,

I already knew you were going to say that. :-) In your eyes, he is damned if he speaks and damn if he does not speak. I am not surprised. Typical.

  2. The Archbishop said he did not do it. So who are we to keep questioning him. You people need to stop judging and leave him alone. He is old and does not need this type of drama. Maybe you all should start walking in The Way so you will understand.

    1. Who are we to question brother tony? We should be concerned for all sides to include the victim. This isn't against the catholic faith but to right a wrong once proven after thoroughly investigated.

All sexual pedofiles and crooks 100% say they never did the crime. And since when does age excuse an accused from being investigated when there is a victim who came forward. I am not judging because that is for the Lord to do but it also doesn't excuse brother tony from a thorough investigation.

Are you that insensitive to even the victim who for 40yrs has suffered and NOT LIVED his life while the other has been able to live their life? Shouldn't WE be praying for all those involved and not just for a single person?

    2. Dear Anonymous at 7:37 am,

All innocent people 100% also say they never did the crime, so I fail to see your point. I agree that prayers are needed and I hope that the truth prevail. One side is saying that he was molested by the Archbishop. The Archbishop says he did not molest anyone. I still stand by the principle that the accused is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

    3. Ummm Diana there won't be a court of law to handle this matter because of the statute of limitations. And what about all of those allegations you made against Msgr James? Don't you believe he should also be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law? I smell double standards dear Diana.

    4. Dear Anonymous at 8:21 pm,

I guess we will simply have to wait and see. As for Father Paul and Monsignor James, they are innocent until proven guilty. However, I recommend that they get another canon lawyer so that their case can be heard.

    1. Dear Anonymous at 9:43 am,

That is exactly my point. The goal of the jungle is to remove the Archbishop at whatever cost. Well, I have news for you. The Archbishop is not stepping down from his position, and I do not hear Rome telling him to step down.

  7. Has the archdiocese review board started their investigation? People are saying negative things about both the alleged victim and the archbishop. I would like to know if anything has begun. Three members have already stepped down.

    1. Dear Anonymous at 9:03 am,

Since three members have stepped down (1 member recused herself), I think the first step would be to find replacements for them.

  8. Why would the member recuse herself just because she is a part of the NCW? Makes no sense. If she recused herdelf because she's in the Way, then she should have never been a part of the review board.

    1. Dear Anonymous at 10:58 pm,

Actually, it would not matter whether she recused herself or not. As you can see, she recused herself, and the jungle criticized her and interpret it to mean that the NCW is not Catholic. If she does not recuse herself, the jungle will still criticize her and say that the hearing was unfair because she walks in the Way.

  9. It's a double edged sword. She should probably just step down. If more victims come forward, she will never be a part of an investigation which makes her useless.
