More Judgments From The Jungle

Apparently, Tim Rohr continues to accuse the NCW of being a liar.  According to an anonymous comment, which can be found here.

Dear Diana, what do you say in response to the suggestion that the NCW exaggerated the number that attended the vocational meeting in Philadelphia? We have been told that 40,000 attended but that the venue only holds 20,000?

This is my response:

Rather than swallowing everything Tim Rohr feeds you, you should have done the research on your own to find the truth.  According to information found on Wikipedia regarding the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia:

The arena has a concert seating capacity of 21,000 seated and at least 21,499 standing.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wells_Fargo_Center_(Philadelphia)

That is a total capacity of 42,499.  It is important to remember this.....when you point an accusing finger at someone, there are three fingers on your hand pointing straight back at you.

Do you think it appropriate to label someone a liar?

Oh please. Let's not start with what is "appropriate"--especially if you favor a blog full inappropriate jungle addicts. Sorry, I am not a fan of Mr. Rohr, and it isn't because of this drama in the Church. He's always been an arrogant... (I'll stop there).

  3. Dear Diana, its important to remember this. If you are going to quote statistics, learn what they mean. The capacity figures you quoted are for 21,000 seated OR 21,499 standing. Not both at the same time though, so you can't add them together. That's just simple and easy to checkout (go to the wells fargo certer internet site, or give them a call if you don't believe me - (215) 336-3600)

    1. Dear Anonymous at 4:00 pm,

It is important that you read what is actually stated and not change a word just to suit what you like. It stated: "the arena has a concert seating capacity of 20,000 AND at least 21,499 standing. Do you see the word "or" in there?

    2. Diana, is it possible that not all attendees were inside the Center? Surely we've had many events where many members of the NCW had to be situated outside with speakers and big screen tv monitors. World Youth Day is a good example.

    3. Dear Diana, are you saying that Wikipedia knows more about this than the Center management? Isn't it possible that the wiki should have had "or" instead of "and"? Isn't it possible that both you and wiki are wrong about this and that the NCW is truly exaggerating?

    4. Dear Anonymous at 4:24 pm,

The possibility exists that others may have been outside with loud speakers also on the outside to accommodate them. It was the news report in Philadelphia that listed the number as 40,000 and Zenit and other news report picked it up.

  4. It is a lie. Look at what was posted on the Philidelphia NCW facebook page on September 28th at 7.56am:

"Looking at the numbers that we have received so far, the number of seats will be very very close to the number of people."

  5. And if there were 40,000 people, as claimed, and each was supposed to give $20 to cover "expenses" (philadelphia ncw facebook site). That comes to $800,000 for a single event. Care to explain?

    3. Dear Anonymous at 6:31 pm,

Do you not know that whenever a musical concert or game is held in that center, people pay more than $20? Did you think that the NCW would be an exception if we were to use the center for free?????

  6. Dear Diana, the other day you posted an article from Zenit speaking about the 1,000 families that offered to go on "mission". How come now the official NCW site claims the number of families that volunteered at the meeting was 2,300 (http://www.camminoneocatecumenale.it/new/evento.asp?lang=en&id=242)

So, would you say that Zenit is not a trustworthy news site for Catholics, or is the NCW officially lying?

    1. Dear Anonymous at 4:53 pm,

Zenit got that report from the news report in Philadelphia and other news report.

The CBCP news says the same thing. Are you going to call them a liar as well?

  7. If you are going to accuse the NCW of Philadelphia of being a liar for posting a news event in their facebook, you should also accuse CBCP news and all others that got their news report in Philadelphia a liar. Let us at least be fair about that and not simply target the NCW who only copied and pasted the same news report.

    1. Nonsense. You know how these things work The NCW gives the press release to the news and they post it. It all comes from the top of the NCW. Every event is the same. The NCW iswell known for exagerrating numbers. Just look at the number of those given who "stood up". Most of them are still in primary school.

    2. Dear Anonymous at 6:01 pm,

The NCW did not give any numbers to the media. They gave the numbers to Cardinal Chaput. In the video, the Cardinal said that there were about 20,000 to 30,000 members there. The news report in Philadelphia was the one who counted 40,000. And all the NCW did was copied and paste the news report. So, let us be fair. Call the news report in Philadelphia a liar too.

    3. OK. Have a think here. The event required registration of those who were attending. This was announced a long time ago and the NCW handled the registration. Who is going to know how many people registered? The NCW doesn't need to "copy and paste" the news report. It already has the numbers of those that attended. The only reason the NCW would say 40,000 is that they are deliberately exaggerating because it suits the purpose. It happens every time.

    4. Dear Anonymous at 8:04 pm,

I already said that the NCW gave the numbers to Cardinal Chaput. I just published a 10 minute video of Cardinal Chaput on my blog. You can hear him say that the number the NCW gave him was between 20,000 to 30,000. Why would the NCW contact the NCW???? Did we contact KUAM and tell them how many people will be going to Philadelphia to represent Guam???

Cardinal Chaput was the one to contact because is the current Archbishop of Philadelphia. If anyone should know where to host the number of people between 20,000 to 30,000, it would be him. See the video below.

      http://neocatechemunal.blogspot.com/2015/10/cardinal-chaput-endorses.html

The number the NCW gave him was between 20,000 to 30,000 people. Apparently, the Center is capable of accommodating up to 30,000 people otherwise it would not have been chosen. The media in Philadelphia, on the other hand, have their own count, which all the other news reports copied.

    5. Um, you seem to be forgetting this:

      http://www.camminoneocatecumenale.it/new/evento.asp?lang=en&id=242"

from the NCW official website, which claims 40,000 people attended and 2,300 families volunteered.

So now, is the Archbishop wrong? Or is the NCW exaggerating?

    6. Dear Anonymous at 9:26 pm,

We know where the 40,000 came from. The news report in Philadelphia also reported that over 1000 families from the U.S. volunteered to be mission families. It did not say the number of families who were not from the U.S. The families who went up there were not all from the U.S.

    2. Dear Anonymous at 8:20 am,

Have you ever read the Gospels and the Acts of the Apostles in the Holy Bible? If you did, you would have known that even the disciples of Christ did not always get along. In fact, St. Paul and St. Barnabus had a disagreement over a trivial thing and went their separate ways. In the end, however, they somehow reconciled. Disagreements and arguments are normal in the Body of Christ. And the beautiful thing is that when these disagreements happen, it is Christ who brings us together and to reconciliation. There would be no reconciliation if there were no disagreements.
