Purgatory

An anonymous poster stated the following here.

Proverbs 16:5 The LORD detests all the proud of heart. Be sure of this: They will not go unpunished

MY, my Diana. Stop talking about punishment. God's JUSTICE is His MERCY. Maybe you didn't get to that step yet. Please Post this comment. Your posting of people's comments are few and far between..First of all, there aren't that many comments. Second of all, you make your own comments and respond to YOURSELF, Diana. That's just weird.

I had already responded to this post, but I will elaborate more.  As I said, I do not make up my own comments as "anonymous" posters.  All the comments I posted in my blogsite came from real people albeit they prefer to remain anonymous.

Finally, Hell and Purgatory exists.  Hell was created for the fallen angels, but the Church also teaches that Hell is a place for those who died in a state of mortal sin (See the Catechism of the Catholic Church #1035).  In his book Crossing the Threshold of Hope, Pope John Paul II (who is now a saint) asserts that the God of Love is also the God of Justice, who holds us responsible for our sins and punished them accordingly.

In addition, there is a big difference between "forgiveness of sins" and the "punishment of sins."  A good example between the two is found in the story of King David.  David murdered Bathsheba's husband and took Bathsheba for himself.  As a consequence of this sin, God told David that his child with Bathsheba will be taken from him.  David then repented and God forgave David's sin.  However, the child STILL died.  Purgatory is not only for the purging of sins, but also for the "punishment of sins" that are already forgiven (See the Catechism of the Catholic Church # 1472, 1479, and 1498).  For more information on the "punishment of sins" that are already forgiven, I provided a couple of Catholic weblinks for you below:

Temporal Punishment in Purgatory

Therefore, the biblical verse in the Book of Proverbs I cited still stands.  Why?  Because it comes from the Holy Bible, which is the inspired word of God:

Proverbs 16:5 The LORD detests all the proud of heart. Be sure of this: They will not go unpunished

    1. Dear Anonymous at 7:35 p.m.,

Could you elaborate more on what you mean by "long suffering of God?" From what I understand of Church doctrine, God the Father is not suffering. It is God the Son who has suffered and still continues to suffer because He exists outside of time. According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church:

CCC 1085 In the liturgy of the Church, it is principally his own Paschal mystery that Christ signifies and makes present. During his earthly life Jesus announced his Paschal mystery by his teaching and anticipated it by his actions. When his Hour comes, he lives out the unique event of history which does not pass away: Jesus dies, is buried, rises from the dead, and is seated at the right hand of the Father "once for all." His Paschal mystery is a real event that occurred in our history, but it is unique: all other historical events happen once, and then they pass away, swallowed up in the past. The Paschal mystery of Christ, by contrast, cannot remain only in the past, because by his death he destroyed death, and all that Christ is - all that he did and suffered for all men - participates in the divine eternity, and so transcends all times while being made present in them all. The event of the Cross and Resurrection abides and draws everything toward life.

  2. I learned that God does not punish; he just lets us suffer the repercussion of our misdeads. Also, I understood that the long suffering of God is that because of Justice God could punish, but he puts his hands behind his back. Also that there is Hell, but that the Church has never named anyone who was actually there. For sure it does exist. Just my meanderings. Comment, please. Thanks.

    1. Dear Anonymous at 9:50 p.m.,

If a soul find himself in Hell, it is because he put himself there. For a soul to be in Hell, the soul must be in a state of mortal sin as the Church teaches. This means that the soul utterly rejects God. And if the soul rejects God, God will give the soul what it wants, which is to be separated from God. God will not force anyone to be in His kingdom if they do not want to be there......although it is sort of difficult to imagine who does not want to be there.

Then again, I did read some of the writings of Christopher HItchens who denied the existence of God and even discriminated against ALL religion, claiming it to be the delusions of man. Of course, this is not to say that Christopher Hitchens is in Hell. Who knows.... Maybe at the last second of his dying breath, he may have repented.

    2. Seems Hitchens liked to swim against every tide. He suffered a lot and wished it was for a reason. I hope even that wish won't be wasted in the economy og the Merciful

  4. Diana, someone is impersonating you at Tim Rohr's blog. This is already so low blow I cannot find the words. There are fake comments as if coming from NCW. But obviously, they are not! Tim is fine with this deception, he approves and publishes all these comments. It is a violation of the truthfulness of the Spirit. However, they don't know something very important: Bible says that sin against the Spirit is unforgiven! Yes it is! These folks won't see the purgatory... This is the modus operandi at Junglewatch today.

“I promise you that any of the sinful things you say or do can be forgiven, no matter how terrible those things are. But if you speak against the Holy Spirit, you can never be forgiven. That sin will be held against you forever.” — Mark 3:28-29

    1. Dear Anonymous at 5:55 pm,

I think people know that it is not me. If you can recognize that it is not me, then others can too. Besides, I have not posted any comments on Tim's blog ever since they accused me of being a priest. The things I said did not matter to them. All they focused on was my identity.

I see that they are now accusing me of being Father Adrian. Poor Father Adrian. I do not know why he is being picked on.

    4. Dear Diana, they are so desperate to get your attention they would do anything... even lying, making fake comments and impersonating you. Like little kids who want to get the attention of nanny. Lol! Should they get a spanking?
