The Pope to the NCW

Zenit news did not report anything of what happened on September 20th when the Pope received Kiko Arguello.  However, an anonymous poster gave an Italian weblink, which gives a detailed account of what happened on that day.  You can find the story here.  My computer translated the website.

The Pope to the Neocatechumenals: "I respect you very much. Come on, go ahead "

Kiko Arguello met Francesco in view of the "Asian mission" in Macao

The International team of the Neocatechumenal Way is carrying out various cohabitations that mark the beginning of the course. In this context, the past Friday 20 September in the morning, Kiko Argüello, María Ascensión Romero and Father Mario Pezzi , had a private audience with Pope Francis in the Vatican.

The initiator of the Way, Kiko Argüello, wanted to personally thank the Holy Father for the opening of the new Redemptoris Mater College in Macao (China) for Asia , dependent on Propagande Fide and expressly desired by the Pope himself.

St. Francis Xavier

Argüello donated to His Holiness a drawing, made by himself for this occasion, of St. Francis Xavier, patron saint of the missions, the great apostle of Asia, who died at the gates of China, whose incorrupted arm is venerated precisely in Macau, the place chosen for the new Redemptoris Mater, in continuity with the work of evangelization that the Church has been carrying out for 5 centuries. The Holy Father welcomed the design of St. Francis Xavier, with joy and gratitude.

"I respect you very much"

A few days before, at the end of the general audience, on Wednesday 18 September, Pope Francis wanted to personally know and greet the formators and seminarians of this Redemptoris Mater before their departure for Macao. His Holiness encouraged them with these words: "I respect you very much! A very important mission awaits you in Asia! Come on, go ahead! "

The Pope and Kiko

The Pope thanked Kiko Argüello for the evangelizing mission of the Way: "I am happy because you carry out the most important thing in the Church which is evangelization and you do it without proselytism, but through witness".
At the same time the Pope stressed the importance of the presence of families on mission who with their witness attract pagans and those who are far from the faith.
Francesco then welcomed Kiko's proposal for a new sending of families on a mission that will take place in 2020.
At the end of the audience, which took place in a climate of great cordiality, Francis encouraged   Kiko to move forward, and the whole Neocatechumenal Way continued with the announcement of the Gospel.

  1. In Guam, the Way also continues to move forward. The Beginning of the Year Convivience is next week, and all Responsibles and Co-Responsibles will be attending. I'm sure that one of the good news will be the seminary in Macao.

  2. The youth in my community have been inviting their friends and classmates to the Eucharist, and they love it! 🙂 They continue to come to our Eucharist despite that they’re not members of the Way.

    1. Dear Anonymous at 10:16 pm,

Inviting them to the Eucharist is a way to evangelize. Kudos to these NCW youths. If I am not mistaken, I believe we can also invite them to the youth scrutacio. Brothers and sisters, continue to invite people to the Eucharist, especially the youth, who are the future.
