1. The NCW is teaching people the truth about sex. Thank God for that! I know women in the NCW who have gotten their tubes untied and many who have gotten off birth control. I know people who were living lives contrary to the teachings of the church as regards sex and who are now living in conformity with those teachings. The teaching of the NCW is heroic in this regard.
2. The NCW is getting people to pray, especially the liturgical prayer of the Church. I was luck to have been exposed to it many years ago, but since then I have never been encouraged to pray the Liturgy of the Hours.
3. The NCW is teaching people to be givers....AND they are succeeding. I see NCWs contributing in large ways, especially financially.
4. The NCW is producing vocations. And I know that the seminarians are learning Latin and Gregorian Chant in conformity with the true wishes of Vatican II. I don't see that happening anywhere else.
5. I see NCW priests wearing their clerics. They are visible to the community. God Bless them for that.
6. I was sitting with Fr. Ivan and Fr. Eric Forbes when Fr. Ivan asked Fr. Eric if he would teach the seminarians how to say the Traditional Latin Mass. Fr. Eric responded positively and also offered to teach them the theology of this beautiful Mass. This is in conformity with the wishes (if not command) of the Pope in his recent Moo Proprio. I don't see anyone else rushing to embrace the Pope's desires in this regard.
7. The NCW is teaching people to study their faith. They are studying the Scriptures, the Catechism, and the Early Fathers. It's wonderful to see.
8. I understand that the NCW is also active in the prison. I used to teach in the prison for GCC and saw how active non-Catholic groups were with the prisoners. The majority of the prisoners are Catholic. Where is the Catholic ministry? The NCW is now there.
9. I see the NCW going out 2 by 2, knocking on doors and inviting people back to the Church, in other words, doing exactly what Christ commanded. The only other group that I know that does this is the Legion of Mary, so good for them too.
10. Most of all I am moved by the politeness, the kindness the general charity of those I know in the NCW, especially the priests and seminarians, but essentially most everybody I know personally who is connected with it.
11. I should also mention that I have been asked on many occasions to order the book The Pope's Armada which as you may know is not very favorable towards the NCW and other ecclesial communities. I only placed one order for it and that was before I knew what it was. When I am asked now I politely let the person know that it is not a book that I would recommend. I don't say this because of the negative it has towards the movements, but because the book calls into question the wisdom and the authority of John Paul II. And I'm a fanatical Pope defendant.
I remember this guy... and by this guy, I mean his tone has so COMPLETELY changed in comparison, that he now seems like TWO DIFFERENT PEOPLE. I miss that guy...that April 2008 guy.

We know who the person is and the comments made were valid and the person who made them did not hide behind an anonymous name such as "diana". Now that the person scratched beneath the surface and has started to ask reasonable questions about the wrongdoings and secrecy behind the superficial facade....all @#$% is breaking loose because he dared to question the all mighty neos. WHO STILL HIDE BEHIND AN ANONYMOUS name such as "diana". O double M double G!!!! Come out from behind that curtain all mighty wizard of neo!!!! :-) Courage, be not afraid!!! Show yourself!!! No? DeleteOf course not, but the wording "grave error" appears very serious. If the poster meant that I would make an error or mistake.....that is a different story. I am not afraid of making mistakes. After all, I am human. I never claimed to be perfect. Also, making mistakes is good for me. It helps me learn better. :) Who here has never learned from their errors?
I really don't care,,,what is important is rectifying the problem that is going on now before it becomes way out of hand. The guessing game of who is this, who said this, is insignificant.

We see your method of manipulation. You omit context. He has never denied saying any of this and has also linked back to this blog entry on JW when the controversy initially erupted.

DeleteOkay......I guess most people got the correct answer. I guess #11 sort of gave the answer away. :-) I do not know why some of the junglewatchers feel offended with this post. This post actually shows the good side of the person when he spoke about the Way in this manner.
ReplyDeleteThe question is what happened to Tim Rohr between the time he wrote this and now. What changed his point of view upside down about the Way? I would not be surprised if some of his business plans went sour changing his mind. Perhaps he wanted to be the chief supplier for the Way's need in books and other items on Guam? Who knows?
ReplyDeleteSo he tried to be friendly with us back at the time. But then he realized that the Way does not need his assistance in providing religious supplies to its members and communities. This could have been the a game changer for Tim. Knowing how his mind works, this could have angered him with no end! Gosh, he said, he lost all that prospective profit... So he became very mad at the Way. So for us he is just an angry person and nothing more. He should calm down and come to his senses. I'll pray for you Tim.

DeleteTim said some good things about the Way. He also questioned some of the things in the Way, but the demeanor of his post in 2008 is very different from what we see today. In his 2008 post, he never used words like "evil" or "non-Catholic" to describe the Way despite that he questioned some of the Way's practices. There was nothing negative that Tim said about the Way in his 2008 post. His entire post can be read in the following weblink:

This 2008 post is very different than what I see in the jungle. I do not know what happened to Tim Rohr between the time he wrote this and now.

DeleteClearly Tim has problems with the practices of the Way and the behavior of its members (can an itinerary even have members?). His blog is a thorough catalog of serious faults in the NCW. You may think he is being negative, but from where I stand (not sit!) he is doing a great service for Catholics everywhere.

The RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) is an itinerary of formation (a process) in which the individual eventually becomes a MEMBER of the Catholic Church. One does not become a member in a process.

If you read the entire 2008 post, near the end Tim lists the issues he had w/the way. Why isn't that addressed?? I see how you post and reflect on what's positive about the way and conveniently discard the critique part. How special.

Secondly, those six issues that Tim listed were NOT negative things about the Way. Tim never said anything negative in his 2008 post about the Way. Those were simply his personal issues and personal preferences that had nothing to do with the Way. In fact this is what he stated about those six issues in his 2008 post:
"Now here are my issues which I intend to lay out just as honestly and again only from my personal observations and experiences as an outsider. Some of these things do not have anything to do with the NCW, but just personal preference, like the first one:"
