More Misinformation In the Jungle

The Vatican has announced that it will establish a Redemptoris Mater Seminary in Tokyo, Japan.  According to the Editor's note of Catholic World News (the bold is mine):
Citing his concern for the evangelization of Asia, Cardinal Fernando Filoni, prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, announced that the Redemptoris Mater seminary for Asia will be established in Tokyo. Cardinal Filoni said that the project has papal approval. The archbishop of Tokyo said he was “confused” by the decision and that he had not been consulted.
It was also brought to my attention that the jungle is once again spreading misinformation about the NCW.  Because the Archbishops in Japan were not consulted about erecting an RMS in Tokyo, Chuck White cites the Statutes of the Neocatechumenal Way to mislead people into thinking that the NCW violates its own statutes. According to Chuck White
This, despite the fact that the Statute of the Neocatechumenal Way specifically says that the Neocatechumenal Way “is at the service of the bishop“ [Art. 1] and that it is “under the jurisdiction, direction of the diocesan bishop” [Art. 2]
The Statutes of the Neocatechumenal Way is ONLY for the Neocatechumenal Way.  Nowhere in that Statutes does it even mention "Redemptoris Mater Seminary."  Why?  Because RMS has its own Statutes and bylaws to follow.  RMS does not follow the Statutes of the Neocatechumenal Way.  RMS is not owned by the Neocatechumenal Way, and RMS has its own statutes and bylaws to follow.....plain and simple.

  1. JW is a propaganda machine set out to demonize and discredit the Way. Thank you for setting the record straight, Diana.

  2. It is altogether confusing. RMS cannot exist without the NCW. I think it just a play in legality.

    1. Dear Anonymous at 9:24 am,

It is not at all confusing. The seminarians in RMS are walking in the Way, but RMS is not the NCW because the NCW can exist without RMS.

  5. The Pope himself wants the Redemptoris Mater seminary in Japan. Notwithstanding everything and everyone. He believes in this kind of formation. And he is the Pope....

  6. Bishop's in Chile, Pennsylvania USA, newark USA, and other parts of the world have been corrupt and hiding abuse for centuries. The pope as a holy man has personally gone to apologize to victims. All of a sudden the pope is evil for not consulting Japanese Bishops in his implementation of an RMS. There had already been an RMS in Japan and the Bishops forced it to close against the Pope's wishes. It has long been known that the Bishop's of Japan are secularized and have cut ties to Rome. It is not a far thought to think that there is corruption in Japan and this is how the pope has decided to fight it.

    1. Dear J. Bautista,

Who said anything about the RMS on Guam??? The topic of discussion is about Rome establishing an RMS in Tokyo, Japan.

    2. Oh yes...lets us talk about Japan and Rome. Please continue as our comments will somehow be of great help and support.

In the mean time....let us stand by and hope Japan and Rome can help re-establish the RMS on Guam.

Let us wait for someone with the courage...with the FAITH to help us.

In the mean time......let's continue to just.....talk.

    3. Dear J. Bautista,

You seem upset that RMS on Guam has been closed. Dear brother, move on. Many of us have accepted the closure and have moved on. Although we lack faith, God has been faithful. We hear God's words of consolation in the Word celebration and Eucharist. And sure enough, something good came out despite the closure of the seminary here.

We now have the "Rainan I Langet" Center in Asan. The center will be open sometime in September or October. Why God has given us this center, who knows? But it comes as a great help to us. As more and more lawsuits come out, it is possible that in time, the parishes and Catholics schools will be gone. Parishioners will no longer have a gathering place to worship. Where will they worship.....on public land? The NCW, on the other hand, will always have a place of worship. Because we are in small communities, we can have the celebrations in the Center or in a brother's home when the parishes are all sold away. So, you see, despite the closure of the seminary in Guam we can still see that something good can come out of it, and it already has. The fact that we still continue to walk despite the closure of the seminary and the persecution.....that is the graces of faith given by God who came to sustain and console us for faith comes only from God.

    4. Dear J. I agree that talk is cheap when faith is lacking. The troubles are not going away by talk. Talk about the whole map of earth jumping from continent to continent, from country to country, we still remain in trouble here on Guam. I see the clouds getting darker and thicker in the sky above our island. Sin, judgment and calamities are arising! Is it not faith that moves rocks and hills? We need more of it to survive tension, oppression, adversity and hostility toward the communities,

If we have faith in the name of Jesus, then everything becomes possible. We don't need a big hotel for a new seminary. We can open social halls, houses, buildings of worship. We'll provide host families of living for seminarians who will announce the Good News of salvation. We only need to demonstrate our faith, enough faith, from thousand and thousand brave people of the communities in all 23 villages.

I agree with Diana, that Rainan I Langet protects the communities from calamities. You see, RMS is being sold as tip of the iceberg. There will be more, much more coming! Diana says parishes and Catholics schools will be gone. It will be a time of reproach for the whole church. Parishioners will no longer have a place of worship. Is it not good that nobody can touch the Center and take it away from the brothers? You see our persecutors are encroaching on us. Those supposed to be our Catholic friends of the same church are not acting a s brothers do.

But communities will survive in face of persecution. We need to care of the brothers as God provides. Because He is good. Is this not reason to have faith and courage? Pray for me my brother, so I don't lose courage in a time of sin, judgment and calamities reigning over the faithful.

    5. Dear J Bautista,

You say 'all I see are cheap talk....no actions....just talk'. What kind of actions do you propose? That you would lead?

I see this blog as informative and a venue to vent our opinions frustrations, as well as encourage.

    6. J Bautista. So what is your action plan since you say 'talk is cheap' .

  8. Dear J.
I think your comments lack faith. All Christ did during his lifetime was talk. And when it was time to take action he allowed himself to be crucified.
We are not the jungle or ccog. We do not try to take Justice into our hands. Much like King David spent his whole life running. He had many opportunities to destroy his enemies and he chose not to. He chose to let God make Justice. In turn he is the only king who was able to unite the whole kingdom of Israel. God will make Justice for all the wrong doing. We are not attached to buildings because as Christ says the kingdom of heaven is neither drink nor food. It is inside those who choose to follow Christ and no one can destroy it because it is eternal life. God is already making Justice as we see with rorh's life. We still are called to pray for him and present mercy for those who repent and to pray for those who don't repent. Anyways be happy because God has chosen to give you his kingdom and no one can take that away

  9. Though the NCW communities will stay strong as this destruction of the church continues on Guam I worry for the brothers and sisters who are not in the Way.
I don't know if you guys have noticed but when some folks on the island see these accusations against clergy members they begin to question their faith sometimes. They also begin to question the catholic church. It sounds silly but its true.Sometimes resulting in them just leaving it.When the Seminary is sold and other church buildings begin to be sold. Many more people will begin to lose faith.Like I said,us Neos will be fine. But what about the rest of Guam? How will they know how to put up with this?

    On another note.
While I think its great to talk on here I think J Bautista has a little bit of a point of something having to be done. Not exactly about bringing back the seminary as we have to accept the loss of it,but about waiting for a certain someone or certain people. There will always be people with courage and faith. But all with different missions. There is a possibility that in the future there will be new intinerants coming to Guam as their mission.

  10. Diana, you said, "Nowhere in that Statutes does it even mention "Redemptoris Mater Seminary." Whoopsy, you can't believe everything people tell you. Check Article 18 of your statute!

    1. Dear Anonymous at 8:03 pm,

My bad. I stand corrected. Nevertheless, it is still true that RMS has its own statutes and Bylaws to follow. It does not follow the statutes of the NCW. Article 18 states that the diocesan bishop is the one to erect RMS.
