$25,000 Given To Archdiocese By CCOG

Image result for Redemptoris Mater Seminary, GuamSome people say that with the new year comes a new start, a new beginning. Most of us look forward to the new year with hope and unity with both the NCW and non-NCW working and being together side by side.  After all, we are one family of God.  Only the jungle, CCOG, and LFM seeks the demise of the NCW and the shutting down of the RM Seminary.

An anonymous poster made the following in my last post, which can be found
here:

Diana I have something disturbing to tell you on jw they posted that ccog had paid archbishop Michael j byrnes $25,000.00 for what

This is my response:
CCOG did not give Archbishop Byrnes $25,000.  They gave the Archdiocese the money.  According to Tim Rohr:
P.S. As mentioned several times already, we need and want Archbishop Byrnes to succeed. However, despite the "listening to both sides" posture, I am unaware that Byrnes has met with anyone from the CCOG except for a casual run-in at the chancery with CCOG President, David Sablan, even though the CCOG gave the archdiocese TWENTY FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS to help with the legal fees associated with the return of the Yona property.
The money was given to the Archdiocese during the time Archbishop Hon was still here managing the Archdiocese while Archbishop Byrnes was still in Detroit.  The money was given to help with the legal fees associated with the "so-called" return of the Yona property.  I say "so-called" because the property was already under the Archdiocese of Agana.  Therefore, the money was not used for the return of something that the Archdiocese already has.  Most likely, it went to the paperwork and processing fee in getting the deed restriction rescinded and drawing up a new Articles of Incorporation.

Nevertheless, nothing has changed even with the deed restriction rescinded. This is probably the reason why the jungle is still angry and frustrated.  They got the deed restriction removed, but the RMS continues to operate as they have always done.  In fact, the removal of the deed restriction did not even affect their Christmas concert, which they planned for a long time.  They held their Christmas concert and even had a silent auction.

In his press release, Archbishop Byrnes stated that he would like the Laterian University to continue to be affiliated with the seminary.  This is already an indication that he intends to utilize the building in Yona to remain a major seminary, and he made no mention of closing it down.  Tim Rohr and David Sablan can propose their own ideas of what they want done with the seminary, but Archbishop Byrnes makes the ultimate decision because he is the Coadjutor Archbishop of Agana.

  1. Tim is saying that Byrnes is not in control of the Archdiocese. He's saying that Cardinal Filoni is in control.

    1. Dear Anonymous at 9:56 pm,

That is the same line Tim used on Archbishop Apuron. He said that Archbishop Apuron was not in control and that Father Pius was in control of the Archdiocese. Now that we have a new Bishop, he is saying the same thing again. So, what else is new? Different bishop, but same old line.

    2. I suspect that CCOG gave lots of money to Hon personally. Otherwise I cannot explain how Hon supported every single thing they suggested. This is just a suspicion..Money speaks.

  2. It is because Archbishop Byrnes himself said that his boss is Filoni. So one has to be suspicious. Not all in the Vatican and NCW is holy. There are a lot of political maneuverings in and out of the Church.

    1. Dear Anonymous at 7:03 am,

Yet, Tim Rohr bragged that he was the one who got Archbishop Byrnes here. And he even dismissed what Byrnes said about reporting to Cardinal Filoni UNTIL he learned that Archbishop Byrnes approved Father Adrian desire to study canon law. Tim Rohr also did not like the fact that it was the Archdiocesan legal council is questioning the recent law that lifted the statutes of limitation.

Now, Tim Rohr is changing his mind and is actually treating Archbishop Byrnes the same way he treated Archbishop Apuron. It is an insult to Archbishop Byrnes for Tim to say that he has no mind of his own. Archbishop Byrnes can make decisions of his own independent from Cardinal Filoni. The REAL issue here is that the jungle wants to control Archbishop Byrnes.

    2. It was only a matter of time for Tim to turn against Byrnes.

    3. It is not only against Archbishop Byrnes, it is also against Pope Francis! The time of fooling around is over.

    4. Remember when you all turned against Archbishop Hon? Good times! *<:o)

    5. Good times? Hon was a temporary administrator who took it upon himself to make drastic changes In just a few months that no ordinary bishop would even think of doing before at least a year had passed from his installation. He was a henchman. I don't know who he was working for but certainly not Filoni. So much so that filoni removed him so quickly that the man had barely time to unpack his bags before he had to pack them up again. He was the sub. Anyone who has worked as a sub knows that when you go to class that class is not yours to do with as you please. If a sub begins to alter the class, the students always complain. Same thing with Hon. He was a sub who made changes to a class that was not his. We had a right and duty to complain to Rome. Byrnes now comes as the assistant teacher. In the abscence of our teacher we will treat the assistant like gods anointed who is learning to lead our church.

  4. "Archbishop Byrnes makes the ultimate decision because he is the Coadjutor Archbishop of Agana."

The same could be said about brother tony and the accusations he made up about Monsignor Benevente. Brother tony makes the ultimate decisions on any financial issues because he's the archbishop but yet blame was placed on Monsignor Benevente.

    1. Dear Anonymous at 7:44 am,

Monsignor James was the one who made the choice to spend thousands of dollars on restaurants, hotels, and travel using a credit card. Although Monsignor James was approved to have a credit card, HOW he used it was his responsibility.

Furthermore, Monsignor James also did not have the approval of the Archbishop or the Cemeteries Board to use money belonging to the Cemeteries Board to use for his anniversary party.

    2. A prominent family told me that Father James was offered the cathedral back from bishop Hon but James refused. is this true? I ask because I heard the contrary. Now I hear that James is telling the parishioners of Agana that he is being asked to return to the cathedral because Fr Paul cant handle the Cathedral, this also cant be true because Fr paul handled the biggest parish on Guam in dededo. In fact, someone mentioned that the reason James is asked to go back to the cathedral (a step down, really), is so he can clean up the financial mess he made during his time as priest there. His former "godson" says he takes out more than what is needed for a "renovation" or construction project. BTW, looks like a new boy toy in town, since when did altar boys get paid? Something very fishy going on and I dont like it one bit, please explain your side if you're able, i want to hear both sides because quite frankly, I'm very disappointed.

    3. I believe the boy toy angle in the James benavente case has to be much more thoroughly investigated.

There were many perks of being an altar server at the cathedral during the benavente reign. Many received top of the line electronics repeatedly. Among my childhood friends it was always a dream to serve the cathedral and become a godson.
There are many things that can be talked about but instead they are pushed under the rug where no one hopes to ever reveal. This is the trade mark of the local Catholic Church.

In recent JUNGLE NEWS: Apparently they are arguing among themselves over the title of the Virgin Mary. Is she co-redemptrix or mediatrix?
      Foolish people.
Mary always sends us to her son. In the same way she intercedes to her son on our behalf. Who is the redeemer? If Mary can redeem, why direct us to her son?

    5. Ya ok i give you that. But it doesn't sound as serious as rape of a minor though...

    6. you sure it's not as serious? why pay for something that you get for free? Our pastor would give us an ice cream cone each after we served Mass. that I understand. it gave us altar boys a chance to be together and become friends. But iPhones? paid trips? money? If the pastor had given me an iPhone for serving Mass my parents would have been very suspicious and gone to talk to him. if he had offered me a paid trip with him to a fancy resort, my parents would have called the police. to me these "gifts" smell of hush money.
