What Are The Redemptoris Mater Seminaries?

The following article was taken from the following weblink regarding all Redemptoris Mater Seminaries around the world (the bold is mine).

http://www.christusrex.org/www2/ncw/english/nseminari.htm

According to the website, "......the `Redemptoris Mater' Seminaries are not seminaries of the Neocatechumenal Way, but real diocesan seminaries which depend on the bishop." The RMS priests conduct the Mass in the same way as non-RMS priests in Guam's parishes.  So, whether one attends the Dededo parish or the Barrigada parish, the priests in both parishes administers the Mass in the same way.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
They are one of the most important fruits of the conciliar renewal; a complete new reality, desired by the Second Vatican Council which in Presbyterorum Ordinis n.10 said, “The presbyters should remember that concern for all the Churches falls on them... and where it is necessary (because of a lack of clergy) not only a functional distribution of Presbyters should be facilitated, but also the implementation of special initiatives that will favor particular regions or nations or the whole world. To this end, the creation of International Seminaries for the good of the whole Church according to norms to be established and respecting the rights of the local Ordinary would be useful.” (PO,10)

In 1991, the Intercongregational Commission set up by Pope John Paul II to deal with the serious scarcity of priests in many parts of the world recognized that:

“This idea of the Council has been applied in the `Redemptoris Mater' seminaries which prepare presbyters for the new evangelisation according to the program of the Neocatechumenal Way... this would realize a new form of ministry: the diocesan missionary.” (L'Osservatore Romano, Italian Edition, 15.3.91)

As stated in the Statutes and Rule of Life, the `Redemptoris Mater' Seminaries are not seminaries of the Neocatechumenal Way, but real diocesan seminaries which depend on the bishop. The students in these colleges receive the same theological formation as the other seminarians of the diocese. They do a year of pastoral work in the parishes as deacons and two years in the diocese as presbyters before the Bishop can send them in mission. But if the Bishop has need of them in his diocese, he can place them where he wishes, given that they are ordained without condition.

A characteristic of these Redemptoris Mater Seminaries is that they are international: they are for the whole world and at the service of the Church.

Experience has shown that the combining of a way of initiation to the Christian life - the Neocatechumenal Way - with the formation of the presbyter is a great help for the psychological, affective and human development of the candidates. (Before being presbyters they are Christians, and in the way of faith they learn prayer, obedience, the sense of the Cross, to be in communion, etc.) Above all, it is a help in uniting the mission with the parish, since the Neocatechumenal Way is a time of formation that finishes in the parish with living, adult, missionary communities united to the parish priest and the bishop.

Many `Redemptoris Mater' seminaries have been erected throughout the world. In the United States of America there are two of them; the first one was erected in Newark, New Jersey and the second in Denver, Colorado.

In Rome, where the first `Redemptoris Mater' Seminary began in 1987, about 100 presbyters have already been ordained, and are now working in the parishes, or are in mission in other dioceses throughout the world where the bishops have requested their services from the Cardinal Vicar.

  1. One has to be extremely uneducated and mean spirited to deny the benefits of good education at a RMS. Or perhaps simply jealous?

    1. Mean spirited, jealous and uneducated? That's funny.

    2. It is un-Catholic to look down the devotion of seminarians to their vocation. They invest time and energy to study for priesthood. Can't you respect that? If you are unable to support them, despite being a "Catholic", then your heart is rotten and eaten up by jealousy and hatred.

It would be better for you to get some decent education so that you don't keep regurgitating the very uneducated stupor that you were told to parrot back here.

    3. It's also un-Catholic to lie, cheat and steal from others. But it is the DUTY of brother tony to face the very flock he supposedly shepards but is often gone to tend to other sheeps or avoids the very flock who go to him for answers when clearly everything could be settled with brother tony being open and honest. But as was said earlier, this is way too funny.

    4. Dear Anonymous at 4:34 pm,

The Archbishop has already answered the questions that the other sheep asked, but they continue to keep asking the SAME questions.

Also, sin does not determine whether one is Catholic or not because even an atheist sins. Our BAPTISM is what made us Catholic.

    5. Dianna, you may think that brother tony has answered the questions of his flock in truth but official documents provided say otherwise. However, the truth will prevail. Also, one who shepards his flock with truth doesn't not try to avoid his flock or shut his flock out and act as if he's clueless to what is going on with his sheep.

    6. Yeah, except that before Arius was excommunicated, he wasn't excommunicated. And after he was excommunicated (in 311) he was readmitted into communion (in 313). It was Athanasius who was exiled, and Arius enjoyed communion in the Church until the Council of Nicea. And even then he was readmitted into the Church by the Synod of Jerusalem and was a bishop to his death.

You don't know what you're talking about.

    7. Dear Anonymous at 8:50 pm,

All the official documents provided to you say that the RMS property belongs to the Archdiocese of Agana. The only one saying otherwise is your master, Tim Rohr. The Archbishop did not shut you out. YOU shut him out when you declared that he is no longer your Archbishop. It is all over the jungle, which you support. For these past three years, the jungle have been declaring that Apuron is not their Archbishop; therefore, YOU shut him out.

Fortunately, there are more intelligent people. LFM distributed their fliers to three parishes BEFORE they had their fundraiser. When their fundraiser came, they could not even get 100 people to attend. There were only 70 who showed up. The jungle have already lost their credibility when they started to invent stories of fraud and did not report it to the police. Your master is really losing it.

He continues to lose his credibility when he made the mistake of declaring the Archbishop a non-Catholic simply because he is considered a "brother" in the community. Rohr had no idea that Pope Francis also referred to himself as a "brother". He also made the mistake of comparing Kiko Arguello and the NCW to known heretics who were excommunicated by the Church. Someone should have informed Tim Rohr that Kiko Arguello and the NCW were never excommunicated UNLIKE Bishop Arius and the Arians. One cannot compare the NCW to a group that was excommunicated. Why? Because in the first place, we had the blessings and support of Pope Francis. Pope Francis confirmed our call, supported our mission, and blessed our charism.

    8. Dear Anonymous at 11:55 pm,

See my comment above. I modified it. For your information, you cannot compare a group of heretics with a group that was never called a heretic by the Holy See, but has been blessed and supported by four popes.

    9. Anon. February 16, 2016 at 8:50 pm, the archbishop didn't leave you. He took the time putting out those documents in the attempts to bring unity. If he really didn't care, he wouldn't have bothered to take the time to provide those documents to you. However, if you've already made up your mind not to believe or trust anything he provides, then there is nothing he can do about that. You say the certificate of titles are a fraud, but I don't see Tim reporting it to the police. Why doesn't Tim report it to the police so they can investigate and get rid of any corruption in Land Management? Because Tim doesn't have any substantial evidence of wrongdoing. He's just shooting from his mouth.

    10. Ummmm, brother tony was off island when you said he took the time to provide those documents. So how was he here to tend to his flock?

      Delete
    11. Dear Tim Rohr,

Even when he was off-island, he still tended to his flock by taking the time to provide those documents otherwise you would not even have a document. The fact that you were provided documents from the Archdiocese showed his effort in trying to bring about unity.

    12. Let me understand the idiology that you're saying. So you're saying he tends his flock from abroad? What kind of mission poor Shepard is that?

      Delete
    13. Dear Anonymous at 9:05 am,

It is the same kind of ideology commonly used everywhere. Even the Governor of Guam tends to his people from abroad. Guam is not isolated from the world. And the Church in Guam is not isolated from the universal Church.

  2. Yep. The fact that Tim has documents from the Archbishop explaining that RMS still belongs to the Archdiocese of Agana showed that archbishop was answering their questions and attempting unity. Nowhere did archbishop ever say that the jungle folks were no longer his sheep. It had always been the jungle folks who disowned archbishop. LFM & CCOG are also the jungle folks.
