Visiting Bishop From Rome
Most Rev. Bishop Enrico dal Covolo, SDB, rector of the Pontifical Lateran
University in Rome was on Guam visiting the Blessed Diego Luis de San Vitores Catholic Theological Institute for Oceania last year on December 21-29. The Bishop is a Theologian; a Member of the Pontifical Committee for Historical Sciences; a Consultor of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith; a Consultor of the Congregation for the Clergy, and was a papal preacher for Pope Benedict.
During his visit on Guam, Bishop dal Covolo met with the students, faculty and academic authorities of the Theological Institute. Archbishop Anthony Apuron erected the Redemptoris Mater Seminary on December 8, 1999 in response to the late Holy Father Blessed Pope John Paul II's call to the New Evangelization.
In 2007, the Blessed Diego Luis de San Vitores Catholic Theological Institute for Oceania received its affiliation to the Pontifical Lateran University in Rome. The Lateran University serves to oversee the academic program of seminaries and then passes its recommendation for affiliation to the Congregation for Catholic Education, which gives the final approval. The congregation is the dicastery of the Roman Curia, which acts as an accrediting agency by authorizing certain degrees to be granted in the name of the pontiff. You can see the information here.
The decrees conferred by the Remptoris Mater Seminary in Yona came from the Lateran University, and candidates receive a bachelor's degree in Theology, NOT a certificate of completion.
There are 42 seminarians training for the priesthood at the Seminary in Yona, and all their studies are completed at the Blessed Diego Luis de San Vitores Catholic Theological Institute for Ocean. Since the Institute was affiliate with Rome, 12 seminarians have received a bachelor's degree in Sacred Theology.
Currently, Father Miguel, a priest of the Archdiocese of Agana is studying at the Pontifical Lateran Unitersity pursuing his doctorate in Theology. Newly installed Pastor of Our Lady of Peace and Safe Journey (in Chalan Pago), Father Edivaldo had completed his license degree in moral Theology from the John Paul II Institute for Marriage and the Family in Rome. Dear Anonymous,
DeleteWhat is SMH? Tim Rohr refuses to believe even if photos or documents were given to him. He and his group has already made up their mind that the Neocatechumenal Way is heretical. Rohr is hoping that the Nuncio would respond, but they haven't responded to him at all.
smhid; shaking my head in disbelief
ReplyDeleteWho is heretical? Tim is getting kooky.
Dear Zoltan,
DeleteThank you for the clarification. I was not sure what SMH means. I agree that Mr. Rohr says things that don't make a lot of sense. It appears that he thinks that the Way is going to take over the Catholic Church, which I think is nonsense.
Sorry Diana,
ReplyDeleteHe has plans to reveal three local Priest for sexual abuse. His threat is media. Eventually he is going to shoot his foot.
